Speaking of Surprises

After writing about Sideways I thought that I would let you in on another non-mainstream gem I have come across. I was in an electronics store in Dallas over springbreak and this ipod was playing this song that I had never heard before and it was great so I checked it out and it was by a group called Modest Mouse. Who the hell is Modest Mouse? Well I don't know, but I do know that I really like thier song Float On, I play it way more than I should. Anyways so Sideways and Float On should be checked out.

Sideways - it doesn't suck...

So, I just got in from seeing Sideways. I don't know what it is about this movie but I really liked it. I think the characters are what pulled me in because the movie itself certainly does not have much of a plot but this is a rare case where the movie actually survives and may even be the best I have seen this year. Anyways, it was over 2 hours long and I could have sat there for another 2 hours watching these people. What can I say, this movie really grabbed my attention.

Home Alone

Well it is Easter weekend and I am by myself - no roommates, no girlfriend. I am not complaining, this is going to be a nice little break from everything. I was going to go meet my parents in Arkansas but with the price of gas and it being just over 500 miles I decided to skip that trip. I am a petroleum engineering major and high gas prices are great for me but just not at this time, I wish this would of held off until I graduate. Geez. Anyways, I need to get off here and see if I can't find something to do with my time.

Back in Lubbock

I'm back in dusty, cold Lubbock. I can't wait to graduate and move to a better climate. The trip was fun, Jake is planning on proposing to Carrie soon. Anyways, I'm tired and don't have the energy to type.

Dallas (Eulles)

Well, I am in Dallas for a couple days, got here yesterday afternoon. Today I went to lunch with a "rainy day" friend, Cory, who I haven't seen in about two years. I really fell bad for the guy, he must weigh about 400 pounds, it was pretty bad. Anyways, the actuall reason I came to town was to see my buddy Jake, I've known him for over trn years now and we still remain good friends even though we haven't lived in the same town for over 5 years. I guess this was a weekend to catch up because my friend Tim Taylor called me Friday and I haven't talked to him in almost 2 years. It's scary seeing everyone, including myself, grow up and what type of life's we are forming. Anyways, I will be here until tomorrow, I don't think Nicole can take another day without me since what she has going on in her life.

TSA - Homeland Security

Well, I am all for securing our commercial flights but a recent trip to Houston was the biggest pain ever. I decided to only have a carry-on thinking that this would save time, I couldn't be more wrong. Apparently, because I booked one-way flights this flagged me as a security concern. I was patted down, searched, my bag was emptied, searched and swabbed. The security check took about 20 minutes in Lubbock and about 10 in Houston. It almost caused me to miss my flight in Lubbock, the gate paged me twice. Anyways, once on the flight out of Houston, there was no more room for carry-ons so I had to check my bag, so much for saving time. It was very stressful, not only the flight but the fact that it was very last minute. I'll get to my reason for going to Houston on a future post. It is a subject I'm still conflicted about and don't want to post something I will regret.

First Post

Okay, this is the first post. I'm not sure what I am going to be posting but I have an ample amount of strong opinions and random thoughts so quantity shouldn't be a problem, quality maybe.
